Kurttu and Rutku are inseparable friends who live in the lively Finnish metropolis called Turku. We may have seen them picking up fights in the Market Square or sitting in a bus on the seat reserved only to elderly, but their history is, however, a bit of a mystery to most of us. Where did their story begin?
Kurttu was born in Turku, Finland. His childhood home was every pigeon’s dream. Their apartment was at the Market Square, right next to the grill. There was plenty of food for every day, thanks to easily stumbling drunk people, who dropped most of their burgers on the pavement. So Kurttu grew up in a luxurious home with fantastic views, eating gourmet meals with his wealthy parents.
Rutku’s history, on the other hand, is slightly more typical, since he was born in a middle-class family. He was hoped to become a skilled karaoke singer like his father, but apparently, Rutku’s IQ is so low that
he couldn’t get to the honorable PiKaScho, Pigeons Karaoke School. Eventually, he only graduated as an engineer. Although Rutku’s life may seem perfectly ordinary, he has a shameful secret.
When others have asked Rutku’s birth city, he has always told been born in Turku. Thus, he has kept the original place of his birth as a secret to this day. Shame, however, has been overshadowing his life for too long. It’s time, to tell the truth: Rutku is actually from Helsinki.
”Rutku’s family moved from Turku to Helsinki, just before he was born. His father hoped to open a better singing career in the capital city of Finland. A few days later they returned like a boomerang because their ears couldn’t withstand the terrible slang spoken by Helsinkians,” says Kurttu.
The friends met each other a few years ago at a rock festival. They both had drunken too many juice boxes and got a brilliant idea to bombard singer Michael Monroe’s super expensive jacket full with bird poop. Needless to say, Canadian geese’s working as security guards kicked them out of the event.
”Since then, we have made a lot of mishaps, but we’ve always managed to survive,” laughs Kurttu.
